How the programme runs

The Sewing Machine Operator course is a three-month residential programme offering employment assurance to young people with little or no formal educational qualification, feeding the garment export industry in Bangalore, Chennai and Tirupur.

It is typically free for trainees through government schemes such as Aajeevika, OSEMS and OSFDC. Gram Tarang trains and places over 2,000 operators a year.
